Mission Statement

Baker Federal Credit Union strives to helping its community realize their dreams one member at a time.  BFCU is committed in building lifelong relationships through education and empowering our members with the necessary knowledge to achieve financial success.  BFCU strives to be the primary financial institution for our members today and for years to come with our customized products and services.

Baker Federal Credit Union was formed in 1961 and is the oldest financial institution in all of Warren County.  BFCU was originally formed for the employees of the former JT Baker Chemical Company located in Phillipsburg.   In 2008, we expanded to serve anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Warren County.

So..What is a Credit Union?
A credit union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative that is owned by its members.  The very first credit union was formed in 1844 in England and the very first credit union in the United States was formed in 1908, so credit unions have been around for a very long time.  Credit unions exist to serve its members…not answer to stockholders.  The foundation of all credit unions is and always has been “people helping people”.

Member Owners

At a credit union, stockholders are not the owners, members are which means YOU!  Each member deposit makes up their share of ownership in the credit union.  Regardless of the size of their deposit, each member gets one vote.  As an owner, you are entitled to the most exceptional, personalized service we can offer.

Board of Directors

Credit Unions have a Board of Directors composed of member volunteers.  Members of the Credit Union democratically elect the Board of Directors.  Credit Union Board Members are not compensated as they volunteer their time.  By volunteering, they make decisions that are in the best interest of the membership.
